Multimodal Freight

Multimodal Freight

As logistics has come to influence business strategies, shippers emphasize the flexibility and frequency that is offered by road haulage. If other modes of transport (such as air and sea) are to compete with road haulage, they must offer flexible and frequent services as well. This flexibility is obtained by offering multimodal transport services involving pick up and timely delivery by truck at each end of the long haul. In order to determine the frequency required for a multimodal freight transport service to be competitive to road haulage. Maroos can provide a service that is sufficiently frequent.

A multimodal freight transport service requires very accurate planning and we are good at corridor transportation planning, identifying projects and programs that need to be implemented on a specific corridor, such as along a particular highway, bridge or route.

Our multi-modal transport planning process includes the following steps:

  •  Monitor existing conditions.
  • Identify major growth corridors.
  • Identify current and projected future transport problems and needs, and various projects and strategies to address those needs.
  • Evaluate and prioritize potential improvement projects and strategies.
  • Develop long-range plans and short range programs identifying specific capital projects and operational strategies.
  • Develop a financial plan for implementing the selected projects and strategies.
