Maroos Shipping and Forwarding Co., as it is known
today, was established in 1994. Young as it may seem, the
company can by no means be considered inexperienced as the
background of it’s management is deeply rooted in the past.
Mr. Roshanaei the MD is in fact a pioneer in the country's
shipping sector. A ship pilot of the early seventies with a
Master’s degree in shipping from US, took over as the chartering
manager of the IRISL, the largest shipping line in the
middle east, in early eighties. Determined to run his own
business in private sector, Mr. Roshanaei started one of the
first fully Iranian shipping agencies in 1983.
The decision to set up Maroos,
made some ten years later, was based on the need to develop
specialized capabilities in ship management, chartering,
operating and freight forwarding. With the expansion of
involvements in ship management, as a result of attaining
ownership of a number of vessels, as well as those chartered
and operated by the company, the need for in-company
shipping services section was felt. This led Maroos to
develop the shipping agency capabilities to an extent; they
have been handling large tonnages of various types of
vessels over the recent years.
Maroos Shipping & Forwarding Co. today is a
totally independent entity engaged in every aspect of global
transportation and heading right for the high spot.
One major factor for the
company’s success is indeed the solid background experience
and up to date knowledge of shipping, vested in its
management. Another factor for Maroos to rely on, is our
close relations at ports and the whole of the shipping industry and
shipping
organizations in Iran. This of course is owing to the fact
that quite a few of the managerial staff of the company,
happen to originate from those organizations.
Having made all
necessary arrangements and supported by a dynamic team, Maroos
Group is now fully active
in all shipping related fields as well as global
transportation.
Our current undertakings in
shipping, range from running a feedering service
between Persian Gulf ports to somewhat considerable tonnage
chartering for shipments of major governmental trade.
Management of numerous vessels of other major ship owners
too, has been a part of our work for years. Notable among
them are the offshore vessels owned by the NIOC.
Handling cargoes in transit for CIS, is another aspect of
our activities.
The
transit section of the company has in fact been the fastest
growing during the recent years. We take pride in being one
of the few trusted transportation agents to the World Food
Program of the United Nations. Having handled over 100,000 MTS of food aids to Afghanistan and Iraq so far, we stand
firm for any such requirements in the future.
Shipping services, especially
agency work, happens to be the company’s hallmark, This is
owing to
the vast experiences gained through decades of agency work
by the management. Besides rendering agency services to
numerous ships and shipping lines, Maroos is the exclusive
agents to some prestigious international companies. National
Petroleum Construction Company and Norden & Denmark; can be named as examples,
